Midway through the first period, Engelland led with his forearm in delivering a hit to Kruger’s head. Kruger played the remainder of the period but did not return for the second frame. Kruger is believed to have suffered a head injury on the play, which will factor into any supplemental discipline. A date for the hearing has not been set. The Penguins are off until Friday when they visit the Winnipeg Jets.
